The short version
- LessonLingo has a Free plan and a paid Pro plan. Pro renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime.
- Pro payments are non-refundable, but you can cancel anytime to stop future renewals.
- Only translate files you have the right to translate. Many purchased teaching resources limit copying or adapting.
- AI translation can make mistakes. Please review translations before using them with students.
- Your documents remain yours.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and LessonLingo ("we", "us") about your use of lessonlingo.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
LessonLingo translates Google Slides, Google Docs, PowerPoint and Word files and saves a translated copy to your Google Drive. We may add, change or remove features, or pause the Service. If a change would significantly reduce what a paid plan includes, we'll give paying subscribers notice first.
2. Your account
You sign in with a Google account, and you're responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service. If you use LessonLingo for a school or school board, make sure doing so is allowed by its policies.
3. Plans, billing and refunds
Plans
- Free: 3 translations per month. Each translated copy includes a small "Translated with LessonLingo" credit.
- Pro: 50 translations per month, with no credit added.
Monthly allowances reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC), and unused translations don't carry over. A translation only counts once it finishes successfully. Plan features and limits are shown on our pricing section.
Prices and taxes
Pro costs CA$9 per month or CA$79 per year, or the price shown at checkout if different. Prices are in Canadian dollars, and applicable taxes may be added at checkout. Your bank may charge its own currency conversion fees.
Payments and automatic renewal
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. When you subscribe, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method at the start of each billing period. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel.
Cancelling
You can cancel anytime by clicking Manage plan on lessonlingo.com, or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future charges. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've already paid for, then your account moves to the Free plan. Removing LessonLingo from your Google account does not cancel your subscription.
Refunds
When you subscribe, you ask for Pro to start right away. Payments are non-refundable, and once your subscription starts you give up any right to cancel it for a refund. This includes the 14-day right of withdrawal that consumers have in some countries, such as the EU and UK. You'll be asked to agree to this at checkout. You can still cancel anytime to stop future renewals.
We will refund you:
- if you were charged by mistake, for example twice for the same period;
- if your yearly plan renews and you meant to cancel, and you ask within 14 days of the renewal charge;
- for the unused part of any prepaid period, if we shut down the Service or remove Pro;
- where the law requires it.
We may also give a refund in other cases at our discretion. To ask, email lessonlingosupport@gmail.com from the address you use to sign in. Refunds go back to your original payment method and usually appear within 5 to 10 business days.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, Stripe will try again over the following days, and you keep Pro while it does. If the payment still can't be collected, your subscription ends and your account moves to the Free plan.
Price changes
We may change our prices. If a change affects your subscription, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies. The new price starts at your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then if you don't want to continue.
Promotions and free access
We may offer promotional codes or give some people free Pro access (for example, testers). These have no cash value and can be changed or ended at any time.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the documents you translate ("Your Content"), and to the translated copies. You give us permission to access, copy, process and transmit Your Content only as needed to provide the Service, including sending it to our translation provider, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You confirm that you have the rights needed to do this. In particular:
- Many teaching resources (for example, those bought on Teachers Pay Teachers or from publishers) are licensed for your own classroom use and may not allow translation, adaptation or sharing. Check the licence, and get permission from the creator if needed.
- Don't share or sell translated versions of other people's work unless you're allowed to.
- Don't upload documents containing other people's personal information unless you're allowed to share it.
5. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use the Service for anything illegal, harmful or infringing;
- try to break, overload, reverse engineer or get around limits or security in the Service;
- use automated tools to access the Service in bulk, or resell the Service without our permission;
- translate content that is hateful, harassing or sexually explicit, or that violates the usage policy of our AI provider.
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these Terms.
6. Translations and accuracy
Translations are produced by artificial intelligence and may contain errors, odd wording, or layout problems, especially for text inside images. You are responsible for reviewing translations before you use or share them. LessonLingo is not a substitute for professional translation where accuracy is critical.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on Google (sign-in and Drive), Anthropic (translation), Vercel (hosting) and Stripe (payments). Your use of Google services is also governed by Google's terms, and payments are also subject to Stripe's terms. We aren't responsible for outages or changes in those services.
8. Our property
The LessonLingo name, logo, website and software belong to us. These Terms don't give you any rights to them, except to use the Service as intended.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law. We don't promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that translations will be accurate. Keep your own copies of important files.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, LessonLingo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using LessonLingo at any time and remove its access from your Google Account permissions. Translated copies already in your Drive remain yours. If you have a Pro subscription, cancel it as described in section 3 so you aren't charged again.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll give notice on the site. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
